Reedbed. A series finished

Well the latest series of prints has ended up being a run of six prints, not eight as I originally planned, with the seventh and eighth making a mini series of two or, as the Boss said, a separate pair. I’m glad you all understand that! This one was a bit of an experiment using Paynes Grey, Bistre and two more mixed colours for the Fenland sky. In cutting these blocks I’ve used the lino like a sketch book page working roughly and rapidly rather than in a slower and more meticulous way. The colours are subtle too and lose lose a little of their richness on the paper in the scanning, particularly in the case of the Bistre that describes the water and reed bed in the foreground, never mind you always learn by experimenting. Now it’s just a matter of cracking on with the other half of the pair once that it is worked out in my mind. More news on the book next week too, that’s going to be a bit like Christmas when it turns up as the final product all bound and dust cover in place.
