Another attempt at Japanese hand printing with a Baren, this time a view from a bridge that has been printed in two colours and the finished image size is 12.5inches x 4inches. How the owner of the old wooden boat tied it up securely in the dense reed bed I don’t know and how did het get out with all his fishing gear? Questions that will never be answered because I don’t think it will survive this winter, it’s already filling up with water and it won’t be very long before it slips beneath the surface. Meanwhile I’m continuing to experiment with the method of printing and I’m determined to master it while keeping the use of colour to a minimum. I’m just using two colours and no more colour is needed, but it’s a mind wrestle not to add just one more! However the next print is planned as a three colour printing but I may not get that finished before Christmas. We’ll see. A Merry Christmas and a happy and healthy 2025 to everyone.
I love that print! A merry Christmas and a happy and healthy New Year to you and yours.

That’s an absolute beauty, John. I love the shape of the print and the minimal colours.

Thank you Martin, these are all experiments and tests using a process that I have never used before so it’s a see what you get exercise. It’s never quite what you planned but so far better than I had planned. You learn every day. The one I’m working on now is is a stand of poplars I pass twice a day walking Lucie, they’re end on and in fog. Hopefully next week but if not in January. Have a lovely Christmas, we’ve got all of the family here, it’ll be tiring but fun. UTB, John

I love it. We’ve got all the family too, but we’ve booked them a property around the corner in the village, so at least I can escape if it gets too much! Have a great time. UTB
