The third and fourth chapter headings and a simple image showing that absolutely hard as nails plant Thrift or Sea Pink. A cushion of green some long stems and little tufts of pink flowers, how it ever survives the vagaries of the weather seaside weather while hanging precariously to cliffs and cracks in the rock I don’t know but somehow it does. The second heading shows some amusements on a pier all lit up at night and no doubt very colourful. The chapter is a memory of two young lads fishing at night with the lights in the background and the sound of pop music drifting over carried on the wind not to forget the appetising smell of fish and chips too!
Oh I love how you’ve shown the light over the pier – that’s wonderful!

Jennifer, Good to hear from you and I hope your family are well. The chapter headings will only be about 100mm wide when they’re in the book so they do make you think quite hard! This will be the last book for a while, although I’m planning one about my journey through cancer and all the lovely people I came into contact with but I’ll draw that one rather than print it myself. I need to get on with some of my own work for an exhibition but I’m too busy at the moment! Ironic when you are retired… Best wishes, John

The pier is fabulous – such detail. AND the lighting and the stars!!
But that tenacious little thrift makes me feel lonely and brave – all at the same time. I can’t help but love it.
Love, Linda
