Plaice but no chips

This time a fish, a flatfish and my it’s my version of a Plaice. In taste terms quite delicious but not quite up there with Turbot and Brill but still really tasty. Anyway I digress, when I read a chapter tend I look for the unusual or a slightly different issue to illustrate, my better half says it’s my contrary nature, the book is all about the author’s obsession with Bass fishing but on a hot day he goes snorkelling in shallow, sandy and clear water and starts to see Plaice, a fish he’d never considered being common off the South West Wales storm beaches so there you are that’s where my idea came from. There are only two more cuts to produce to complete the book now and then the project will be completed so at that point it will be back to the West Norfolk Fenland for inspiration and some mad colour. And hopefully a bit of fishing too.

  1. Wonderful, John! Not caught a plaice in some time… But what memories. They always meant springtime, when I was a child.
