Another one of the series of football prints based on squad numbers although it is, in a way, an industrial print too. In an old art school sketch book I had a quick drawing that I did on a visit to the steelworks, the subject was an absolutely colossal ladle. I think that the furnaces were tapped into these vessels, either running the molten steel or slag into them. The man on top was cracking and levering away the scale that had hardened on the sides, I must say that at first I thought he was having a pee. The number stencilled on the side was a massive number eighteen and the Middlesbrough player at the time with that squad number was Andy Campbell. There you have it, tenuous but true.
