There will now be a short intermission

I haven’t yet managed to finish the colour version of the ‘coal miners’. The yellow and orange printings, well mainly the orange are refusing to dry so patience is a virtue. Whilst quietly cursing the non-drying ink I was rooting about in yet another old sketch book from 1993 and I found this image of the North Shields Ferry crossing the River Tyne to South Shields and thought that I could produce a woodcut with the reference and so another project is born. I think the reason for the drawing and watercolour sketch was the yellow of the ferry and the early morning yellow June light. Now I have to find a plank of suitable wood on which to draw and cut the image and that’s probably the hardest part of the project. Meanwhile, hopefully the orange ink continues to slowly, very slowly, dry.
