Our daughter collected some sides and bases from some wooden claret cases, I think the timber is Sycamore but I’m not sure, however one good thing is that they are well seasoned and apart from some ‘soft spots’ they cut beautifully. The old miners cottages have been adapted with a pit head added in the background to give some context and the experiment continues. Sadly the wood isn’t an even thickness so the cut doesn’t print easily on the press, consequently I’ll be printing by hand by burnishing with a barin. That should test my patience putting the image onto Japanese paper and then adding a three or four colours in the same way. There’s quite a lot more cutting to do on this one before the final black printing but I’ll post the progressives as I add the colours after the black block is completed and printed. I think it will only be a short print run too, maybe eight prints in the edition before I start the next one.
I look forward to them.
