I’ll make no apology for using a line from Jon Masefield’s poem ‘Cargoes’. The weather on this particular day was a bit wild, reeds rocking and swaying and the sky, although there were patches of sun, was having the clouds ripped to pieces by the wind, no rain just a ‘mad March day’. The print is an experiment for new series of Fenland landscapes, or should they be skyscapes? However they’ll be on hold for a month or so because I’ve got a new book to work on that in general terms is all about the little known and little visited Kentish Fenland but more on that later as the project develops. ‘Mad March day’ has utilised eight printings and a lot of fine cutting but it is a development of a favourite theme which I will explore further when time allows.
