I love these large beds of reeds. They sway around in the wind with an eerie rustling and tapping sound further enhanced by the continuous chattering, or should I say warbling, of the Reed Warblers that live and make their homes in the dense beds that grow by the rivers, drains and dykes. Sometimes the landscape is just reeds and sky and this is what I’ve tried to capture in a simple print, although there are six colour printings in there. I wouldn’t like to work my way to far into the larger beds because I’m certain that you’d lose your boots in the swampy ground and where they meet the open water it is often surprisingly deep within inches of the reeds finishing. This particular subject deserves more inquiry to take into consideration the different kinds of reeds and waterside plants so I think with this preliminary image I’ve opened up a whole new avenue of subject matter.
That is very nice indeed. It’s deceptively simple in appearance, almost abstract. I love it.

Thanks Chris, it was a trial to do and I haven’t got it right yet but it’s getting there. ATB, John
