I was in the loft gathering up the Christmas Decorations and listening to the rain pounding on the roof when I uncovered a box. Oh the excitement! A mystery box and so I just had to have a peep inside and there before my eyes was a hoard of small prints that I thought had been lost when we moved here fifteen and a half years ago. Ah, the dangers of being diverted by curiosity. Anyway here is just a sample of some of the linocuts that I found in the box: flowers, North Country spider flies, lures, floats, birds, some old Christmas prints for cards and ‘Avon calling’. That last one shows me on the bridge over the River Avon at Hale Park in Hampshire with our two Jack Russell Terriers Pike and Ruffe, the latter as usual asleep. A pile of memories and some inspiration for new work plus a little bit of excitement from some newly re-discovered treasure.

I love all of those, but especially the floats.
What a great early present for you.

Some of the float series was for some Chris Yates book covers, needless to say he has a set on his wall! depressing result yesterday, having watched the game. If OFB’s prediction was right the Boro forwards didn’t read it! It should have been like Hull again. Never mind the team had to lose one so that pressure is off their backs now. have a great Christmas. UTB, John

Thank you Jennifer, it’s a bit like watching the past come back, but, you can still learn how to approach new problems with old methods! Although I do no0t print with watercolour any more! Stay well and my best wishes to you and your family. Enjoy Christmas, John
