Through the spring and summer we see lots of different crops blossom or flower in the fields ranging from oilseed rape, potatoes to mustard and linseed. Yellow, pink, lavender coloured, deep yellow and blue. The white potato flowers look like a light dusting of snow and pink and lavender potato flowers give a slightly psychedelic effect. I don’t know which variety of potato produces which flowers but we were driving through the landscape one day when we had not long moved here and there were acres of lavender to mauve and pink flowers all over the fields of potatoes. It’s a subject that I mean to revisit and investigate further this year having got to know the area much better and having a deeper understanding of the land. It also helps that the farmers that I know will let me walk out into their fields and surround myself with the crop.
