Just as in any areas of flat land the sunsets in the West Norfolk Fenland can be utterly sensational and without large obstructions on the skyline they seem to go on forever. Whether the sky is stormy, clear or cloudy they range from the full-on thermonuclear sunset to the subtle and gentle setting sun. It’s fair to say that both of us have become obsessed with them from the beginning to the end of the sunset event. In truth you really you need a famous landscape painter to show them at their best right going right through to the stage where they become a nocturne so take your pick from Whistler, Monet, Caspar David Freidrich and there are many more. Then of course there’s me stumbling about around the printing press getting covered in ink.
