About twelve years ago I produced a whole series of simple and small linocuts based on the different kinds of floats that anglers use. The cuts were printed in monochrome on watercolour paper and to add colours I devised a way of printing with artists water colour using colours that are normally directly applied with brush onto watercolour paper. I’ve seldom used my secret ‘hit and miss’ technique since then but I think that I may have to revisit the printing method very soon. Anyway, some of these small prints were used by Medlar Press on the covers of a series of small almost pocket-sized angling anthologies. Here is the first of the series, ‘GREAT CARP STORIES’ by Jon Berry, along with the original linocut print that was used. There will be more to follow over the coming weeks.
