A linocut very much inspired by a very particular seasonal Fenland colour, the brilliant yellow of the oilseed rape flowers. This print is very much a study for another later print but I think that it still stands up on its own. The two Jack Russell Terriers and I walk past this Nissen Hut nearly every day and on this occasion it was surrounded by an absolute sea of intense yellow and simply looked incongruous and out of place standing alone in all that colour. The later finished print was simply called ‘Oilfields’ and it really speaks for itself.
