This time an etching and the subject, loosely is the mouth of the River Tees. An etching is not a relief print but this print and others were produced on the road to an obsession with relief printing so it is relevant. The smoking steam tugboat comes from an old sketch book and the stone jetty from my memory the smoky and hazy Teesside industrial horizon is, as always, there in the distance. When we were schoolchildren we used ride our bicycles the twenty or so miles to go mackerel fishing there in the long, school summer holidays.
