Ely Cathedral standing right on the top of the Isle of Ely, this fantastic building dominates the landscape for miles around, not for nothing is it called the ‘Ship of the Fens’. We’ve visited it many times and like many other cathedrals you never get bored with the sheer scale of the building and effort that went into creating the edifice. On this particular day Sue and I were out exploring and the fen had a typical, milky pale yellow winter light that wasn’t quite fog and neither was it mist with the sun shining through it. Quite ethereal really.
