As part of my housekeeping project on the blog, you know dusting, cleaning the windows and beating the carpets, I’ve separated another print that was one of a pair and as such it didn’t appear on the illustrated contents page. As always the print was based on sketch book research and record making going back, yet again, to the middle of the sixties. The subject is the slag and spoil heaps from the steelworks on Teesside or it could equally be the spoil heap from an old ironstone mine, I’m afraid that I cannot remember the precise location but after the reworking process it is definitely a ‘based on’ interpretation of a particular subject. Either way the landscape is long gone now and has been reclaimed by either man or nature or maybe even both at the same time.

Another day in paradise. A linocut printed in seven colours on Fabriano Artistico Extra White HP in an edition of ten. Image size 210mm x 280mm, £120.00
