Another small step forward in the belated ‘Spring clean’ and tidying up of the blog. This print, entitled ‘Oilfields’ has as its subject the fields of oilseed rape that dominate the landscape with their yellow flowers in late spring or early summer, depending on your point of view. The view from the air for pilots in the fast jets must present an incredible sight with large, medium and small fields stretching from horizon to horizon like a yellow patchwork interspersed with the different greens of the wheat, barley, oats and other arable crops. The humbler view at ground level is equally amazing, although not as adventurous, and when the dark grey rainclouds form the backdrop and the sun lights up the fields yellow the colours and effects are absolutely stunning. So that’s yet another subject to come back to.
