Cutting these simple but time consuming blocks as if I am using a pencil or pen in a sketchbook isn’t easy but I do enjoy the immediacy of producing the basic cut as if I am drawing with the cutting tool. Obviously you make errors but you just work along with them, after all you can tidy the block up before the second proof stage. Because of the limitations of the blog the majority of the images are being seen at a larger size than they will be when they are reproduced, 60mm to 65mm wide being the optimum size. I think they’re all finished now but I’m mulling over the idea of producing one further block for the very last page of the book after the last sentence just to close the book nicely, a visual full stop you could say and pretty well the last word. Then it’s going to be back to my own work.
Love them! Looking forward to seeing them in the book.
